46 BC Julius Caesar Roman Republic Silver Denarius | Venus + Captives | Toned

A silver denarius from the late Roman Republic, produced in 46 B.C. by Julius Caesar. The obverse side of the coin features the Roman goddess Venus (who Caesar claimed descent from), and the reverse side features two military captives underneath a trophy. The coin has moderate wear, a slightly off-center strike, and an original patina with iridescent cabinet toning. Measures 19mm in diameter, weighs 3.6g.
