An ancient silver denarius struck by the Roman general Sextus Pompey in 40 B.C. This coin measures 18mm in diameter, weighs 3.8 grams, and is made of silver. The coin has moderate wear, a slightly off-center strike, and a nice dark, original patina with small highlights of iridescent toning.
The obverse side of the coin features the bust of Pompey the Great, Sextus' father, and the reverse side features the Roman God of the Sea, Neptune, surrounded by other minor sea gods.
